Location: Kyoto, Japan Date: August, 2021 Area: 305m2 Function: Exhibition Status: Completed Collaborator: Monoya Client: KG+ & Kyoto Chuo Shinkin Bank

This is an exhibition space design for Kyoto Graphie which organisation holds annual International Photography Festival in Kyoto, Japan. The project aims to utilize the historical building formerly used as Kyoto Chuo Shinkin Bank for over 90 years as KG+ Square. The square functions as the focal point of all satellite events scattered across the city of Kyoto, exhibiting photography works of international young talents. In order to accommodate multiple programmes in a large space with a limited budget, we proposed to create entire scenography and exhibition fittings only with a large single piece of fabric. The fabric dyed in bright yellow, the identity colour of KG+, traverses across the space, not only to create immersive spatial experience, but also simultaneously fulfils the essential functions for the exhibition.
